Why A Denturist?
Denturists study the clinical and technical aspects of removable dentures and general health for a period of three years, longer than any other oral health-care practitioner. The College of Denturists of Ontario acknowledges that Denturists are "Denture Specialists".
Replacing your natural teeth is more than trusting someone with your smile. Your appearance and your entire image are at stake.
Your Denturist is an expert, a specialist in the design, construction, fitting and adjustment of a complete and removable partial dentures.
Denturists have the professional designation "DD" (Diploma in Denturism). The literal meaning of the word Denturist is "One Who Makes Dentures".
Did you know?
- The life span of a denture is appoximately 5 - 8 years
- Most people have dentures that are 15 - 30 years or older
- That gums that support a denture are constantly shrinking. This shrinkage is more rapid and extensive when dentures don't fit well and move in your mouth. Therefore they are only enabling you to chew with 10% of the biting force of natural teeth.
- Dental implants are designed to keep dentures from moving in the mouth
- They stop the bone shrinkage associated with ill fitting dentures and can return up to 80% of the biting force you once had with your natural teeth.
Ask Yourself These Questions...
- Do your teeth feel loose?
- Are they causing you pain?
- Does chewing seem more difficult?
- Are your teeth making you look older than you should?
- Do you dread wearing your dentures?
